Northampton · Northamptonshire
Natural family portraits in Northampton's parks, ancient Salcey Forest, and the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside.
Northampton Family Photography
Northamptonshire is a quietly beautiful county — not as well-known as the Cotswolds or the Peak District, but home to ancient Royal Forest at Salcey, elegant parkland at Delapré Abbey, the riverside meadows of Becket's Park, and grand estates like Holdenby. Family photography here feels genuinely individual.
These sessions are relaxed and natural. No studio, no forced poses — just your family, a beautiful outdoor setting, and the kind of light that makes portraits feel real.

Locations
Abington Park
Northampton's most attractive park — a formal lake, mature tree avenues, a museum-house, and open meadow. The rose garden is particularly beautiful in June.
Salcey Forest
Ancient National Forest site southeast of Northampton — oak and ash woodland with dramatic seasonal change: spring bluebells, summer canopy, copper autumn colour. Excellent tree-canopy treetop walkway as a landmark.
Delapré Abbey & Park
A manor house with landscaped grounds on Northampton's southern edge — walled garden, lake, parkland trees, and the old abbey walls providing beautiful architectural framing.
Becket's Park & River Nene
Riverside green space following the Nene through the heart of Northampton — waterside reflections, open meadows, and willow trees overhanging the water.
Brixworth Country Park
Set on the Pitsford Reservoir — open water views, woodland walking trails, and the wild bird reserve. Excellent light in the evenings across the open reservoir surface.
Holdenby House & Gardens
For families wanting a truly grand historical setting — the Elizabethan manor at Holdenby, once the largest private house in England, with extensive grounds and formal garden terraces.
Cambridge connection — central location
Northampton sits between Cambridge and the Midlands, making it an ideal location for Yana's Midlands portfolio. Easy reach from both directions.
Incredible variety in one county
From ancient Royal Forest at Salcey to stately homes at Holdenby — Northamptonshire punches well above its weight for outstanding photography settings.
Natural and unposed always
Sessions follow your family's natural rhythm. Walking, exploring, children leading the way — these are the moments that make the most meaningful portraits.
Ideal for all family sizes
Mini sessions for small families, standard for four-to-five people, and extended for the full extended family group or active families who like to cover ground.
Salcey Forest — the ancient oaks turn exceptional copper and gold from late October and the dappled woodland light is extraordinary. Book early for October slots as demand is high.
Yes — entirely flat, easy pushchair access along the river, and plenty of space for toddlers to run. The ducks on the river are a reliable attention-grabber for the camera too.
For autumn (October/November) I would recommend 6–8 weeks. Spring and summer sessions are easier to secure, but 4 weeks is still advisable for weekend slots.
